1. Who we are

Pawlse is run by an independent developer in Ontario, Canada ("we", "us"). These Terms are an agreement between you and us for your use of the Pawlse app and related services ("Pawlse"). By using Pawlse, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.

2. What Pawlse is

Pawlse helps cat owners keep track of everyday care: feeding, weight, medications, symptoms, health records, vet visits, expenses and reminders. It estimates portions and calorie targets, and offers AI features that read labels and receipts, estimate a cat's breed and answer questions about cat care.

3. Pawlse is not veterinary advice

• Pawlse does not provide veterinary advice, diagnosis, treatment or prescriptions, and it does not replace a veterinarian.
• Nothing in the app, including feeding plans, portion and weight targets, scores, breed estimates, reminders or any answer from Ask Pawlse, is a veterinary opinion.
• If your cat is unwell, injured or you are worried, contact a veterinarian. In an emergency, contact an emergency veterinary clinic immediately. Never delay care because of something you read in Pawlse.

You are responsible for decisions about your cat's health, diet and medication. Always check doses, diet changes and treatment with your own veterinarian.

4. AI features

Ask Pawlse and the scanners send the photos, questions and cat details you give them to a third-party AI provider, as described in our Privacy Policy. We ask for your permission before the first time, and you can turn AI features off at any time in Settings → Ask Pawlse. While they are off, nothing is sent to the AI provider and the rest of Pawlse works as usual.

AI can be wrong. It may misread a label, misidentify a breed, misjudge a portion or give an answer that does not fit your cat. Do not rely on it alone, and never use it in place of a veterinarian. AI features may sometimes be unavailable or change.

5. Your account

• You need an account to use Pawlse. Please give accurate information, keep your sign-in secure, and know that you are responsible for activity on your account.
• Each account is for one person. You may not share, sell or transfer it.
• You can delete your account and its data at any time in Settings → Account & security. Deletion is permanent.

6. Age

You must be at least 18 to use Pawlse. If you are under the age of majority where you live (19 in some places), a parent or guardian must agree to these Terms for you.

7. Subscriptions, billing and cancellation

Pawlse is a paid subscription with two plans:

• Monthly: billed every month. No free trial.
• Annual: billed every year, with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers.

Prices are shown in the app, in your currency, before you subscribe. Apple handles all payments through your App Store account; we never see your payment details.

• Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
• If you do not cancel the free trial at least 24 hours before it ends, it becomes a paid annual subscription.
• You manage and cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel it.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies.
• Any unused part of a free trial ends when you buy a subscription.

If we change prices, the change never affects a period you have already paid for, and Apple will notify you before a renewal at the new price.

8. Fair use

Please do not:

• use Pawlse for anything unlawful, or in a way that harms an animal or a person;
• copy, resell or redistribute the app or its content;
• reverse-engineer the app, except where the law allows it;
• scrape data, bypass limits or security, or try to access another user's data;
• upload content that is unlawful, abusive or infringes someone else's rights; or
• use Pawlse to build a competing product or train an AI model.

9. Your content

Your records, photos and text stay yours. You give us only the permission we need to run Pawlse for you: to store and sync your data and to send it to the services described in our Privacy Policy so a feature can do what you asked. We do not sell your content or use it to train AI models.

10. Changes to Pawlse

We may add, change or remove features, or stop offering Pawlse. We will try to give reasonable notice of big changes, and you can always ask us for a copy of your records. Pawlse relies on your device, your connection and other services, so we cannot promise it will always be available.

11. No warranties

As far as the law allows, Pawlse is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We do not promise it will be error-free, or that its estimates, calculations or AI answers will be accurate or suitable for your cat.

12. Limitation of liability

As far as the law allows:

• We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of Pawlse.
• We are not liable for harm to an animal, or for veterinary or other costs, that result from relying on information in Pawlse, including feeding, weight, medication and AI-generated information.
• Our total liability is limited to the greater of what you paid us for Pawlse in the 12 months before the claim, or CAD $50.

Nothing in these Terms removes rights that the law says cannot be removed, including your rights as a consumer under Ontario's Consumer Protection Act, 2002 or the consumer laws where you live. Sections 11 and 12 apply only as far as the law allows.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will change the date at the top, and tell you in the app if a change is important. If you keep using Pawlse after a change, you accept the new Terms. If you do not, you can stop using the app and delete your account.

14. Ending your use

You can stop using Pawlse and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close your account if you seriously break these Terms or if the law requires it. Sections 3, 9, 11, 12 and 15 continue to apply after that.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and disputes go to the courts of Ontario. This does not take away the protection of consumer laws where you live, or your right to use a small claims court.

16. Apple

If you got Pawlse from the App Store, Apple's Standard License Agreement for apps also applies. These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Pawlse, its content, its support or any claims about it. Apple and its subsidiaries may enforce these Terms against you as third-party beneficiaries.
